Hi, I am Rena Unger, President of Surya Marketing. For 25 years I have supported top tier media and entertainment organizations including Viacom, Universal McCann and SiriusXM. In addition, I spent 2 years at the Interactive Advertising Bureau, where I provided education, thought leadership and drove industry supportive consensus across 650 media companies in the digital ecosystem as the leader of the Digital Audio, Digital Out-of-Home and Multicultural Committees. I was the founding producer of the IAB Podcast Upfront and oversaw the event in its second successful year. During my time at IAB, I learned that what I enjoy most is helping companies define their unique position in the marketplace and creating success by showcasing their unparalleled industry strengths.

Experience & contributions

Rena Unger brings a unique perspective of 25 years in advertising and marketing experience spanning B2C and B2B. Rena spent 10 years as the driver of creative content ideation and execution for high impact integrated digital and marketing efforts. At Universal McCann, she oversaw an aggressive annual calendar, as project manager for 50+ unique branded entertainment executions for L'Oreal Paris spanning primetime, daytime, cable, digital, tentpole events and consumer pro-social campaigns. While at Viacom International, Rena led trade and integrated marketing efforts across the entire portfolio of brands including Vh1, Vh1 Classic, Vh1 Soul, Vh1 Save The Music, Vh1 Events, Vh1.com, Vh1 On Demand, Vh1 Mobile, Vh1 Gaming, Vh1 Podcasts and VSPOT. At SiriusXM, Rena served as the bridge between programming and branded marketing efforts for 70+ channels, crossing on-air, online and social media, as well as brand, subscriber/consumer and event marketing initiatives. Rena built a marketing team from the ground up and navigated marketing efforts from start up mode to brand mode and again supported the rationalization of two companies when Sirius acquired XM.

While at IAB, Rena evangelized the growth and advancement of the Multicultural, Digital Out-of-Home and Audio committees, including podcasts, working with 650 companies across the digital landscape. Rena was the founding creator of the 2015 Podcast Showcase, the first ever Podcast Upfront in 2016 and multiple Audio Day events educating agency and brand partners, on the unique engagement opportunity Audio offers to key consumers. During that time Rena also made her own podcast debut here and and represented the IAB as a speaker at the Podcast Movement in 2015 and 2016. Rena contributed to a number of industry white papers and educational tools including the IAB Podcast Playbook,  IAB DOOH Buyer's Guide, the IAB Multicultural Hub for Best Practices which showcased industry inclusivity best practice one sheets including Hispanic Search, Programmatic Tips for Cultural Diversity and LGBTQ Top Ten Best Practices.
